In worship, we encounter the eternal living God through the risen Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, who offers us unconditional love, grace, and acceptance. Through our corporate prayers, we offer our praises, bring our confessions, and cast our cares on the God who cares for us. In worship, we listen for God through the prayers, music, liturgy, Scripture readings, proclamation of the Word, and sacraments of baptism and Holy Communion. In worship, we respond to God's Word through the offerings of our gifts for service to God and the world. We leave worship as transformed people, having encountered our almighty God, and being sent into the world ready to share Christ's love with our world.   

 

At Smyrna First United Methodist Church, we offer two different formats for encountering God in worship. Our 8:30 am modern service offers a less formal worship experience with a praise band and more casual flow of worship. Our 11 am traditional worship service features hymns, a choir, organ music, and traditional liturgy with a more formal order of worship. Both services meet in the sanctuary, and the same sermon is shared at both services.
